Qatar’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs visits Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Qatar’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Ghanem Al-Ghanem, visited the city of Samarkand as part of his official trip to Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the delegation led by the minister toured the “Inson” Social Center, where they familiarized themselves with the institution’s operations and held discussions with local officials regarding the implementation of joint projects and programs in the social sector.
The delegation also explored Samarkand’s historical landmarks, highlighting the city’s rich ancient heritage and distinctive architectural treasures. Special attention was given to the city's majestic blue domes and towering minarets, which remain preserved to this day—powerful symbols of Samarkand’s historical importance and cultural legacy.
“Samarkand has always lived in my dreams, and now that I have seen it, this place will forever remain in my heart,” said Minister Ghanem Al-Ghanem. “Even the world’s greatest poets and philosophers—calling it the garden of the heart, the pearl of the East, the mirror of the world, or even the Earth itself—could never truly express its full beauty and richness.”
The Qatari delegation’s tour of Uzbekistan continues. In the coming days, meetings are planned with the leadership of Uzbekistan’s Agency for Social Protection to discuss key areas of future cooperation.
