Uzbekistan 22/02/2008 Putin to host his last CIS summit, Medvedev to report

Russia is to hold the presidential election on 2 March and Medvedev is expected to win landslide in the first round. Since January 2000, when Putin became the head of the Russian state, he has participated in 15 CIS summits.

 

A high-ranking Kremlin official told Itar-Tass that "upon agreement with the CIS heads of state First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will deliver a separate report."

 

"The summit plans to discuss interaction in the implementation of joint projects in the social and humanitarian spheres concordant with the Russian national projects supervised by the first deputy prime minister," the official said.

 

He said presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Moldova, Georgia, Kirgizia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia will participate. The official said nothing about Uzbekistan.

 

The official listed economic cooperation, migration, transportation, and humanitarian cooperation among the main items on the summit agenda.
