PSG defeat Bayern 5-4 in Champions League semi-final
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Paris Saint-Germain edged Bayern Munich 5-4 in a dramatic Champions League semi-final first leg in Paris, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scoring twice.
The match, played in the French capital, ended in favor of the hosts after a high-scoring encounter that saw goals from both sides throughout the game.
For PSG, Kvaratskhelia scored in the 24th and 56th minutes. João Neves added a goal in the 33rd minute, while Ousmane Dembélé struck twice in the 45+5th and 58th minutes, converting one of the goals from a penalty.
For the visitors, Harry Kane opened the scoring from a penalty in the 17th minute. Michael Olise scored in the 41st minute, Dayot Upamecano in the 65th, and Luis Díaz in the 68th minute.
The match set a record for a Champions League semi-final, becoming the first to feature five goals in the first half. It also marked the first time more than seven goals were scored in total at this stage of the competition.
Bayern last conceded five goals in a European semi-final in the 1994/95 season, when they lost 2-5 to Ajax.
The return leg will take place in Munich on 6 May.
