Provision of medical diagnosis and treatment services by unlicensed practitioners to attract administrative responsibility

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the latest plenary session, the Senate reviewed a Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan."

Currently, measures are being implemented in the country to maintain and improve public health, prevent and treat diseases, and create conditions for the health and well-being of citizens.

The Law "On the Protection of Citizens’ Health" stipulates that individuals without medical education may engage in medical practice using folk medicine methods based on the conclusion of a Special Commission for Licensing Medical Activities Using Folk Medicine Methods under the Ministry of Health.

Only approved methods of diagnosis and treatment are permitted in healthcare practice.

However, there have been no legal consequences for providing medical diagnosis and treatment services to citizens by individuals unauthorized to practice folk medicine, nor for using unapproved folk medicine methods for financial gain.

As a result, citizens have become victims of fraudulent healers, and the consequences of such services can adversely affect their health.

The law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" establishes administrative responsibility for providing medical diagnosis and treatment services by individuals unauthorized to practice folk medicine, as well as for using unapproved methods for financial gain.

Additionally, administrative responsibility is imposed for publicly promoting such services.

The Law "On Advertising" is supplemented with a provision prohibiting the advertising of medical diagnosis and treatment services using unapproved folk medicine methods.

After discussion, the Law was approved by the senators.
