Prospects of “China–Europe” Multimodal Corridor and Digitalization of Freight Transport Discussed in Beijing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of an official visit to Beijing, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, held talks with Liu Wei, Minister of Transport of the People's Republic of China.

During the meeting, both sides acknowledged the high level of trade, economic, and transport cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, highlighting the progress achieved in several key areas. Particular emphasis was placed on the implementation of major infrastructure and logistics initiatives of strategic regional importance.

The parties discussed the prospects for the construction of the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway, aimed at strengthening transport connectivity and creating new international freight routes. In addition, they reviewed opportunities to further develop the multimodal “China–Europe” transport corridor, which is intended to facilitate more efficient integration of participating countries’ transport systems.

Another key topic of discussion was the transition to an electronic permit exchange system for international road transport. This digital shift is expected to improve the efficiency, transparency, and convenience of organizing cargo flows between Uzbekistan and China.
