Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 February, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan with the delegation of the Republic of Belarus led by the Minister of Health Alexander Khodjaev.

The active development of medical cooperation between the two countries was noted. Last November, the Healthcare Days of Uzbekistan and Belarus took place, as well as the Uzbek-Belarusian Medical Forum in Minsk.

The prospects for further development of cooperation were discussed at the meeting. Particular attention was paid to protecting the health of mothers and children as a priority area of cooperation. Currently, four highly qualified specialists from the Republic of Belarus work in Kashkadarya regional branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health.

Issues of deepening cooperation in the field of neonatology and pediatric resuscitation, advanced training of nurses, as well as expanding interaction in cardiology, oncology, traumatology and orthopedics, transplantology, prevention of non-communicable diseases, immunization of the population and rehabilitation were discussed.

Issues of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry were also discussed, including the localization of the production of medicines and the supply of dialyzers to medical institutions in Uzbekistan.
