Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting was held in Seoul between the Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jusipbek Kazbekov and the General Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Frank Reisberman.

During the meeting, Frank Reisberman noted that the chairman of the board of the institute, Ban Ki-moon, accepted Uzbekistan’s invitation to the climate change summit, which will be held in Samarkand in the spring of 2024.

It was also noted that the promising project “Early Warning System for Floods and Droughts” with the participation of the ODA Fund of the Republic of Korea is being considered by the Korean Parliament and is at the approval stage.

In addition, the GGGI CEO expressed his readiness to support strengthening cooperation between Korean universities and research centers with the Central Asian University of Environment and Climate Change (“Green University”) in Uzbekistan.

Also during the meeting, special attention was paid to the implementation of projects within the framework of joint programs, including the “GGGI Strategy for Uzbekistan for 2021-2025” and “Strategy for the transition to a green economy of Uzbekistan for 2019-2030.”
