Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A delegation led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva held a meeting with the Speaker of the British House of Commons Lindsley Hoyle.

A wide range of relations between Uzbekistan and Great Britain were discussed, in particular, issues of intensifying inter-parliamentary relations, developing cooperation in the field of trade, economic, labor relations, and gender equality.

Considering the importance of interparliamentary dialogue in bilateral relations, the main attention was paid to further expansion and strengthening of ties in this direction.

In particular, an exchange of views took place on the mutual exchange of experience in the areas of legislative activity and parliamentary control, the establishment of practical ties between legislators of the two countries, and the widespread use of the capabilities of the Uzbekistan-UK friendship group on cooperation issues.

During the conversation, issues of economic cooperation were also discussed. It should be noted that there are 364 enterprises in our country with the participation of the British side. Issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, attracting leading British companies to Uzbekistan were considered.

The need to implement projects in areas such as mining, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and education was noted.

During the negotiations, a proposal was also put forward to establish cooperation through the implementation of joint activities and programs in terms of achieving gender equality, ensuring the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of women.
