Prospects for cooperation in turning Uzbekistan into a new IT outsourcing hub were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 December, a meeting of the leadership of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications with the ambassadors of Uzbekistan in foreign countries was held in the technological park of software products and information technologies (IT Park).

It was attended by the Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov.

The main purpose of the meeting was to inform potential investors about the achievements and high potential of Uzbekistan in the international arena and to establish cooperation.

At a meeting with our ambassadors in foreign countries, the prospects for cooperation in turning Uzbekistan into a new IT outsourcing hub were discussed.

During the meeting, the ambassadors of Uzbekistan in foreign countries got directly acquainted with the activities of the IT park and the conditions created for IT companies and foreign investors.

The Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications also informed about the export of remote services, new technologies being introduced, artificial intelligence technologies and its further development.

At the meeting, it was noted that today all conditions have been created in Uzbekistan for the development of IT entrepreneurship. A modern regulatory framework has been created, a number of tax and customs benefits have been provided, IT parks with modern infrastructure are being created throughout the republic. Sufficient availability of qualified IT personnel in our country is also one of the important advantages.

During the meeting, it was noted that by the end of this year it is planned to increase the volume of IT exports to US$100 million.

In particular, if in 2019 the export of goods and services produced by IT Park residents amounted to US$6.2 million, then in 2020 this figure increased to US$16.4 million. And in 2021, it amounted to US$46 million.

This year, the number of resident companies reached 1073, and the number of foreign companies reached 157.

Minister of ICT Sherzod Shermatov discussed with the ambassadors of Uzbekistan in foreign countries issues of facilitating the opening of representative offices of large foreign companies in our country, promoting our country in the international IT arena, turning Uzbekistan into an international IT hub.

Special attention was also paid to attracting foreign investors to the IT market of Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation between IT park residents and foreign IT companies.
