Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 May 2024, a meeting was held between the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the delegation led by the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.

At the meeting, agreements were signed on preparations for the privatization of Asakabank and the reconstruction of the 4P156 highway “Urgench - Khanka - Khazorasp - Toshsoku - Amudarya - A380 highway” using a cement-concrete pavement.

In addition to signing these agreements, the parties also held negotiations. Particular attention was paid to discussing the prospects for cooperation in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan.

The meeting participants discussed the prospects for the development of the country’s energy infrastructure with the support of the EBRD. The development of transport corridors and increasing the transit potential of Uzbekistan was also discussed.

Projects for the reconstruction and construction of highways, modernization of logistics infrastructure, as well as the possibility of attracting investment in this area were considered.

In addition, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation in developing the social infrastructure of Uzbekistan, as well as on the possibilities of attracting private investment in various sectors of the country’s economy based on public-private partnership mechanisms.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further deepening cooperation in order to support the stable economic development of Uzbekistan and improve the well-being of its citizens.
