Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Eldier Toshmatov met with the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Dunyo news agency reported.
The head of the International Telecommunication Union was presented with information about the transformations being carried out in the republic in the information and communication spheres. It was noted that intensifying cooperation between Uzbekistan and international economic organizations is one of the priorities of the country’s foreign policy.
Doreen Bogdan-Martin highly appreciated the measures taken in the republic to further reform and develop the telecommunications sector, the introduction of high technologies into the public administration system and sectors of the national economy.
According to her, Uzbekistan actively interacts with ITU, representatives of the republic regularly participate in Plenipotentiary Conferences (the highest body of ITU), forums, seminars and other events, both on a regional and international scale.
At the same time, it was proposed to intensify cooperation in such areas as the development of electronic commerce and the digital economy.
