Projects in the field of transport, energy and industry presented to Uzbek President

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 August, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects in the field of transport, energy and industry.

Widely branched and convenient transport infrastructure is a key factor and an additional impetus to the development of the country. In recent years, many new facilities have been launched in the field of road, aviation, rail transport and the metro system.

One of the projects being implemented today is the renovation of the Tashkent-Vostochny airport. Last month, the head of state got acquainted with the progress of its construction. Based on the instructions given by him, the general plan of the airport was finalized. The total area of the complex will be reduced by 130 hectares, which will reduce the cost of its maintenance.

At present, a 4-kilometer runway has been built. The airport will have two terminals - for high-level guests and for business aviation, as well as parking for 25 aircraft, hangars, administrative and service buildings. The airport will also be equipped with modern radio engineering and meteorological systems of class III-A according to ICAO standards, allowing takeoff and landing even in adverse weather conditions.

With the development of the city of Tashkent, the number and activity of its inhabitants are growing. This is also indicated by the increase in the number of private vehicles. At the same time, there are more and more traffic jams on the streets of the city.

The solution to this problem lies in the development of public transport to make it more attractive than driving a private car. To this end, at the direction of the President, Tashkent received new buses and electric buses. The efficiency of passenger transportation has increased, the waiting time for public transport has decreased.

To reduce traffic congestion in the city near the final and most actively used stations of the Tashkent metro, it is planned to build car parks. The goal is to create conditions for people to leave their personal car, transfer to public transport and get to their destination on it.

During the presentation, issues of building up the potential of the country's energy sector were considered. Thus, measures are being taken in the capital to increase the resilience of energy systems to emergency situations and the introduction of renewable energy sources.

In the field of alternative energy, 33 projects have been developed with a total capacity of 13,777 megawatts. At the same time, work is underway to improve the power supply infrastructure and increase its resistance to weather conditions, create backup capacities, and "smart" consumption management.

Information is also provided on indicators and plans for the development of industry in the city of Tashkent.

Today, the share of industry in the capital's economy is more than 34 percent. Last year, products worth 110 trillion soums were produced. Growth rates were especially high in the food, metallurgical and textile industries.

In order to expand production capabilities, it is proposed to transfer the activities of the Yangikhayot industrial technopark to a cluster system. The area of the cluster will be 500 hectares, it will house 810 enterprises and create 100,000 jobs. As a result of the introduction of the cluster system, the quality of products will increase, its cost and transportation costs will decrease.
