Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 18 to 22 October, the cities of Tashkent and Bukhara in Uzbekistan will host a cultural and educational project titled “Russian Language: Reading, Listening, Watching in CIS Countries.” The project is aimed at preserving, strengthening, and enhancing the status of the Russian language as one of the richest languages in the world.

The project is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, ROSCONCERT, the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs, with participation from the State Museum of L.N. Tolstoy in Moscow, the "KinoFocus" company, and state educational and cultural institutions in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan.

This year, the project “Russian Language: Reading, Listening, Watching in CIS Countries” is being implemented in three stages: in September, it was held in Tajikistan, in October it will be held in Uzbekistan, and in November in Azerbaijan.

- 18 October, 15:00, Russian Cultural Center (Tashkent, Yunus Rajabi St., 63): A master class on modern methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language titled "Technologies for Developing Oral Russian Skills: From Games to Training," conducted by Dr. Irina A. Leshutina, a professor at the State Institute of the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin.

- 19 October, 16:00, Organ Hall of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Batyr Zakirov St., 1): A musical-literary evening "Rachmaninoff — Chaliapin: Two Geniuses Beyond Time," performed by winners of Russian and international competitions: Darya Klimenko (mezzo-soprano), Dmitry Romanko (bass), and Olga Sveshnikova, with musical accompaniment by Sergey Semenov. The performance will highlight the significant contributions of these two geniuses, whose 150th anniversary was widely celebrated in 2023.

- 22 October, Secondary School No. 2 (Bukhara, Jalol Ikromi St.): An exhibition titled "The Works of L.N. Tolstoy in Photographs" will open, with a tour conducted by Alexandra Mustonina, an expert from the L.N. Tolstoy Museum in Moscow. The exhibition will later be gifted to the school.

That same evening, at the Youth Center Cultural House (Bukhara, Alisher Navoi Ave., 10), a repeat of the musical-literary evening "Rachmaninoff — Chaliapin: Two Geniuses Beyond Time" will take place.

The core idea of the project "Russian Language: Reading, Listening, Watching in CIS Countries" is to strengthen cultural and humanitarian cooperation with post-Soviet countries, bound not only by geography but also by a shared history. Amid global political changes, the situation regarding the Russian language and attitudes toward the Russian nation have evolved. As stated in the decree by the President of the Russian Federation No. 611 dated 5 September 2022, "Supporting and promoting the Russian language is an integral part of Russia's educational mission abroad and a crucial tool for political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and scientific-educational cooperation with foreign countries."

The project’s program includes a wide range of activities aimed at effectively reaching the target audience and integrating educational innovations.
