Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-third plenary session of the Senate, the Law “On Amendments to Article 31 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Advocacy” was considered.

It was noted that in recent years our country has implemented large-scale reforms aimed at increasing the role and importance of the legal profession as one of the effective institutions for ensuring the protection of human rights, freedoms and legitimate interests.

In particular, measures were taken to ensure the independence of the institution of the bar and lawyers, organization of work based on the principle of adversarial parties at all stages of legal proceedings, and the necessary legislative framework was created for lawyers to carry out their professional activities.

At the same time, there is a need to further simplify the procedure for hiring a lawyer, as well as to simplify the procedure for obtaining a license for the right to engage in advocacy.

Therefore, this Law abolishes the requirement that a person applying for an examination to obtain a license to practice law should have at least two years of experience in the legal profession.

According to the senators, the adoption of this Law serves to increase the attractiveness of the legal profession and create an effective system for attracting young cadres and cadres who do not have two years of work experience in the legal specialty to this area.

The law was approved by the senators.
