Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, launched the supply of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

At the ceremony, held via teleconference, the President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Russia for their personal support in the implementation of this project. Separately, he thanked the specialists who took part in the work to organize gas supplies in the shortest possible time, reconstruct sections of the main gas pipeline, modernize compressor stations and build a new gas measuring station “Beineu”.

It was emphasized that the launched import of Russian gas in reverse mode is of strategic importance for Uzbekistan. This project is a breakthrough step in ensuring the energy security of our country, diversifying guaranteed sources of “blue fuel” supplies, providing additional volumes to cover seasonal uneven consumption, reliable and uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to the population.

Confidence was expressed that the implementation of such a large-scale project and its results will serve to further strengthen relations between the three countries.
