Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin will take part in the first meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia.

The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported that Vladimir Putin will visit Uzbekistan on a state visit from 26 to 27 May at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. High-level negotiations are planned as part of the visit.

The agenda of the meeting includes a discussion of the further development and deepening of Uzbek-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. 

The leaders of the two countries will discuss issues of expanding practical interaction, increasing mutual trade turnover, promoting cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy, supporting innovative cooperation programs and continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchange.

Following the summit, it is planned to sign a package of bilateral documents.

The presidents of the two countries will also take part in the first meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia.

In addition, on the eve of the visit, a number of joint events are taking place in Tashkent, such as a meeting of rectors of leading engineering and technical universities, a scientific and practical medical conference and Russian Art Week.
