Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 September, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed presentations of projects in the fields of construction, education, tourism, and industry.

As reported, the construction of the first facilities in New Tashkent began on 3 April 2024. The head of state highlighted the symbolic significance of starting this grand project with the construction of centers for science and spirituality, emphasizing that this will lay the foundation for creating an enlightened society.

One of the key projects is a complex that includes the Alisher Navoi International Research Center, a Museum of Literature, and the National Center for Makom. The project was designed by the world-renowned architecture firm "Zaha Hadid Architects." The unique design and functionality of the complex are expected to attract attention, while the harmonious blend of aesthetics and comfort will help it integrate into the surrounding environment. It is anticipated to become one of the hubs for international tourism.

The Chirchik River is also seen as a potential growth point for New Tashkent. Plans include creating a recreational zone approximately 6 kilometers long, providing modern amenities for residents and visitors. The riverbanks will be landscaped, and hotels and entertainment venues will be built.

Uzbekistan’s cooperation with UNESCO is strengthening, and the 43rd session of the General Conference of this organization will be held in Samarkand in 2025. In accordance with the President’s decree from March 15 of this year, preparations for this significant event have begun.

The presentation also provided information on ongoing work. The Culture and Art Development Foundation, the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, and other organizations are working on preserving Samarkand’s cultural heritage sites, as well as organizing tours and exhibitions. All necessary conditions will be created in hotels and event venues, and measures have been planned to organize participant visits, cultural programs, and medical services.

In education, a crucial sector of the social sphere, all its branches are developing steadily. At Bukhara State University, more than 21,000 students are currently enrolled, but the scattered location of buildings creates inconveniences. As a result, a new campus is planned to be built on the outskirts of Bukhara. The 43-hectare complex will include all faculties, administration, dormitories, laboratories, and other essential facilities, improving conditions for study and practice. Dormitory capacity will be increased from 3,000 to 6,000 places, and trees will be planted on open land to create a park.

The city of Khiva, one of the main tourist destinations, will also see development: a flyover near the railway station is planned to ensure safe movement between the station and Ichan-Kala.

The president gave instructions to improve the projects and enhance the quality of the work.

Additionally, information was presented on the progress of investment programs in Tashkent. This year, US#2 billion in investments have been utilized, about 200 industrial projects have been commissioned, and more than 25,000 jobs have been created, including the construction of 46 enterprises in the Yangihayot district technopark.

The head of state emphasized the importance of the timely launch of planned projects by the end of the year and the need for special attention to energy conservation.
