President reviews progress at the International Tourism Center
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In recent years, Samarkand has solidified its status as a premier venue for high-level events, including summits, international conferences, and congresses, thanks to the development of modern infrastructure that meets international standards.
A key milestone in enhancing the city’s global standing was the construction of the Great Silk Road tourism complex in 2022, initiated by the President, which has given new momentum to the city's development.
Today, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the ongoing construction and landscaping works at the International Tourism Center, as well as the facilities established there. Currently, several projects are being implemented to expand infrastructure and improve service quality for foreign delegations and tourists.
Notably, a state-of-the-art concert hall equipped with advanced acoustic technology is under construction at the center.
The President provided recommendations for further enhancing conditions for hosting foreign delegations and facilitating bilateral meetings.
During the visit, the governor of Samarkand region briefed the President on the region’s socio-economic development and ongoing projects.
It is important to note that this year, Samarkand will once again serve as a venue for major international events. Preparations are actively underway for the first Central Asia – European Union Summit, the Climate Forum, the Central Asia – Gulf States Summit, and the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.
