Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of attentiveness of khokims and prosecutors to the construction sector.

The head of state revealed schemes to inflate the cost of objects and attempts to save on wages and construction materials at a meeting on priority tasks in the field of housing, communal services and construction.

As part of the investment programs for 2024, it is planned to build 1,637 infrastructure facilities in Uzbekistan. The President expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of an exemplary system for the effective use of budget funds and ensuring the quality of construction on the part of industry and regional leaders.

There were also cases of misuse of budget funds, theft and embezzlement, while entrepreneurial developers are forced to act in conditions that encourage hidden work.

Project organizations receive more money for inflating project costs, and some projects introduce unnecessary services. The President pointed to cases of avoiding unnecessary expenses in 2023 in the amount of 3 trillion soums. On the other hand, when saving builders' wages and prices for building materials, prices below market prices are used.

Problems also relate to the quality of building materials, unsatisfactory wages for builders and the shadow market for building materials.

The President emphasized the responsibility of khokims and prosecutors in this situation.
