Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games in Beijing.
The event was held at the Beijing National Stadium "Bird’s Nest" with the participation of foreign leaders, official delegations and international organizations.
The artistic program of the ceremony, the main theme of which was the concept of "Community with a Common Destiny of Mankind" put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, embodied the ancient history and rich culture of the Chinese people, the colossal successes and achievements of this country as a world economic leader, the spirit and values of the world Olympic movement.
Then came the Parade of Nations. Sports delegations from the countries participating in the Winter Olympics, including Uzbekistan, represented by skier Komiljon Tukhtaev, marched through the stadium. He solemnly carried the State flag of Uzbekistan.
The culmination of the colorful holiday was the lighting of the Olympic flame. The ceremony ended with fireworks.
Over 4,000 athletes from more than 90 countries will compete for 109 sets of medals in 15 sports disciplines at the Olympic competitions, which will last from 4 to 20 February.
