Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law banning clothing that covers the face and propaganda of polygamy.
According to the law, you cannot be in public places with your face covered to a degree that does not allow personal identification. If this norm is violated, the violator will have to pay a fine of 10 to 15 sizes of basic estimated value (currently from 3.3 million to 4.95 million soums).
Uzbekistan has also introduced a fine for encouraging or calling for polygamy. The fine for violating this norm will be from 15 to 30 sizes of basic estimated value (from 4.95 million to 9.9 million soums) or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
For performing the religious ceremony “nikoh” for those whose marriage is not officially registered, the fine will be from 15 to 30 sizes of basic estimated value (from 4.95 million to 9.9 million soums).
