Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of Qatar led by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The Qatari delegation is in Uzbekistan to participate in the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of the dialogue “Central Asia - Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf”.

Prime Minister Muhammad Al Thani conveyed greetings and best wishes to the leader of Uzbekistan from the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Topical issues of further expansion of bilateral cooperation were discussed, primarily in the areas of trade, economics, investment and transport communications.

The head of Uzbekistan especially noted the intensive political dialogue and the dynamic growth in mutual trade and investment.

Large investment projects are being implemented jointly with leading Qatari companies, as well as events are being held as part of cultural and humanitarian exchange. In October, Uzbekistan will host Qatar Culture Week.

Particular attention was paid to promoting joint investment projects and creating effective mechanisms for their financial support.

Issues of accelerating the practical implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project were discussed.

There was also an exchange of views on regional issues, including the serious escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
