President of Uzbekistan received the delegation of Saudi Arabia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 November, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the delegation of Saudi Arabia, led by the Kingdom’s Minister of Investment Khalid al-Falih.

The parties discussed current issues on further deepening multifaceted relations and a full-fledged partnership between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia, including specific steps for the practical implementation of previously reached agreements at the highest level.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Investment conveyed greetings and best wishes from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud.

The President of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in recent years. The level of mutual trade and the volume of Saudi investment in the Uzbek economy, especially in the field of green energy, are constantly growing. The number of direct flights is also increasing.

With the adventure of the Saudi Development Fund, socially significant projects in education, healthcare, water supply and other areas are being implemented in Uzbekistan. A joint fund has been created to expand the economic opportunities of Uzbekistan.

During the current visit of the Saudi delegation, agreements were signed on the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in chemistry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT and infrastructure development totaling US$12 billion. Particular attention was paid to accelerating the implementation of large energy projects in various regions of Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached to promote new projects and programs in the fields of transport infrastructure, utilities, geology, irrigation, household waste recycling, higher education and labor migration totaling US$11 billion.

The successful partnership with ACWA Power, the largest investor and strategic partner in the development of green energy in Uzbekistan, is highlighted. The company is currently implementing projects worth US$7.5 billion.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed his gratitude for his contribution to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia by presenting Minister Khalid al-Falih with the Order of Dustlik.
