President of Uzbekistan pardons 483 people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree "On the pardon of a group of individuals serving sentences, who have sincerely repented and firmly committed to reform."

The document was adopted in honor of the 32nd anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and is based on paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution. According to the decree, 483 people who committed crimes unknowingly but have shown genuine remorse and a desire to change their lives have been pardoned.

Among those pardoned, 107 individuals are fully released from punishment, 275 are granted conditional early release, 7 have had their sentences reduced, and 94 have had their prison terms shortened.

The pardoned individuals include 25 foreign nationals, 32 women, 5 men over 60 years old, 274 people under the age of 30, including 104 minors. Also included are 6 individuals involved in the activities of banned organizations.

This move reflects the policy of humanism pursued in Uzbekistan and demonstrates the nation's high values of generosity, compassion, and nobility.

Authorities have been tasked with providing support to the pardoned individuals in reuniting with their families, adapting to society, finding employment, leading a healthy lifestyle, and integrating into the community.
