President of Uzbekistan pardons 426 people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On pardoning a group of people serving their sentences, who sincerely repented of their actions and have firmly taken the path of correction.”

By decree, in accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 426 persons serving sentences for committing crimes, who sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction, were pardoned.

Among them, 135 people were completely released from punishment, 200 people were released on parole, the punishment was replaced with a more lenient one for 26 people, and the terms of imprisonment for 65 people were reduced.

Among those pardoned are citizens of foreign countries, women, men over 60 years of age, young people under 30 years of age (including minors), as well as persons who participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.

As part of the implementation of the decree, the relevant departments were given instructions to return those pardoned to their family and loved ones, provide assistance in their social adaptation, encourage them to engage in useful work, encourage a healthy lifestyle and integration into society.
