Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 December, on the sidelines of the Climate Change Summit, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UNCCD Ibrahim Thiaw.

The fruitful results of the 21st session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC 21) to the UNCCD, held in Samarkand last month with the participation of delegations from more than 130 countries, as well as heads of international organizations, were noted with deep satisfaction.

The importance of jointly promoting the issue of adopting the Samarkand Declaration on Sand and Dust Storms during the convention conference in Saudi Arabia in December 2024 was noted.

The possibilities of scientific cooperation and research based on the Central Asian University of Environmental Studies and Climate Change – Green University in Tashkent were considered.
