Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the business program of the state visit to the People’s Republic of China, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the headquarters of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, where he held talks with the President of the bank, Jin Liqun.
Current issues of further enhancing the strategic partnership with this leading international financial institution were discussed.
In recent years, interaction with the bank has reached an unprecedented level. The portfolio of joint projects exceeded US$3 billion. In 2023 alone, the volume of attracted investments reached US$1 billion.
Significant projects are being implemented in energy, water supply, reconstruction of roads and railways, and business development.
The Head of state spoke in favor of increasing the volume of funding for projects for the deep processing of strategic raw materials and implementing socially essential programs on the principles of public-private partnership.
As part of the ongoing structural reforms in New Uzbekistan, a Cooperation Program until 2026 has been adopted to implement projects in priority areas.
Particular attention was paid to supporting strategically essential infrastructure projects in Central Asia.
Practical aspects of preparing and holding the Annual Meeting of the Bank’s Board of Governors in September this year in Samarkand were also discussed.
