President of Uzbekistan Meets with Japanese Delegation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held talks with a delegation led by Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the expansion of practical cooperation and the advancement of new joint projects involving one of Japan’s leading financial institutions.
The significant contribution of JBIC to the modernization and development of key sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy was noted with satisfaction. It was emphasized that the current bilateral cooperation portfolio covers projects worth nearly US$4 billion, including initiatives in petrochemicals, textiles, energy, information technology, infrastructure, and other sectors.
Special attention was given to the accelerated development and implementation of new cooperative initiatives involving Japanese businesses in promising areas such as green energy, digital technologies, transportation, and healthcare, in the context of preparing a new three-year cooperation program.
The necessity of promptly taking concrete steps to establish a Japanese International University in Uzbekistan was also highlighted, as it would serve as a key element in strengthening humanitarian and educational ties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a comprehensive roadmap to implement the proposed initiatives.
