Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with a delegation from the UAE, led by the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Mohammed Al Mazrouei.
The negotiation process also involved leaders from companies such as Masdar Mohammed Jamil Al Ramahi, TAQA Jasim Hussein Tabet, TAQA Water Solutions Ahmed Al Shamsi, and Etihad Water & Electricity Yousef Al Ali. These companies are global leaders in energy supply, water supply, and wastewater management systems.
The meeting primarily focused on discussing plans to implement investment projects in Uzbekistan, particularly in the areas of "green" energy, modernization of utility networks, and improvement of the drinking water supply system.
President Mirziyoyev expressed satisfaction with the strategic partnership in the energy sector, noting that it is a key driver of bilateral cooperation. As part of this work, five projects with a total value of US$1.5 billion have already been launched. In December, a 500-megawatt wind power station was commissioned in the Navoi region, and the construction of other facilities is at an active stage.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported the companies’ plans to expand the capacities of existing thermal power plants, modernize low-voltage electricity grids, accelerate the construction of new hydropower plants, energy storage systems, and large solar and wind stations across various regions of Uzbekistan.
The meeting also highlighted prospects for developing water supply networks and creating new wastewater treatment plants through public-private partnership mechanisms.
