Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 December, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdelfattah al-Sisi.

The head of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated him on his convincing victory in the presidential elections.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of strengthening Uzbek-Egyptian relations, expanding cooperation in various fields and the practical implementation of agreements reached earlier.

The importance of continuing active contacts, increasing the volume of mutual trade and implementing joint projects was noted.

Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level visit to Cairo in February this year.

The volume of mutual trade is growing. The implementation of cooperation projects in the field of agriculture, geology, water supply, transport, logistics, chemical industry and other priority sectors has begun.

The leaders of the two countries agreed to hold the next meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council.

An exchange of views on current issues on the international agenda also took place.
