President of Uzbekistan commends dynamic development of inter-parliamentary relations with China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 July, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the National People’s Congress of China, headed by Chairman of the Standing Committee Zhao Leji.

The leader of the Chinese parliament conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, to the Uzbekistan leader.

During the meeting, the achieved highest level of Uzbek-Chinese relations of friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years was noted with deep satisfaction.

The commitments reached during President Mirziyoyev’s state visit to China in January of this year are being consistently implemented.

Confidence was expressed that the outcomes of the fruitful high-level negotiations held during the SCO summit in Astana will give a new impetus to expanding multifaceted cooperation between our countries.

China’s resolute support for Uzbekistan’s socio-economic reform program, particularly in poverty reduction efforts, as well as plans for strategic cooperation programs in infrastructure development, industrial cooperation, agriculture, and "green" energy, were reaffirmed.

The importance of promptly commencing practical work on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was emphasized.

High appreciation was given to intensive interregional contacts. The second Regional Forum will be held next year.

Issues regarding the opening of branches of Chinese universities in Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation in vocational education, and supporting the activities of the Confucius Institute in Uzbekistan were discussed. The second Educational Forum is scheduled for next year.

Opinions were exchanged on cultural and tourist exchanges.

The necessity of further expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, intensifying exchanges between parliamentarians, and studying the experience of legislative activities to support ongoing reforms was particularly emphasized.

It was noted that the adoption of a "roadmap" for implementing activities aimed at deepening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries is envisaged.
