Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 December, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Uzbekistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan warmly congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year, sincerely wishing peace, prosperity and prosperity to the two fraternal countries and peoples.

The head of our state conveyed greetings and best wishes to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The parties discussed topical issues of further development of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and in-depth strategic partnership. The progress in implementing previously reached agreements, including within the framework of interparliamentary dialogue, was also reviewed.

The parties noted with deep satisfaction the noticeable intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation in all priority areas.

The volume of mutual trade is growing - by the end of 2023, trade turnover will exceed US$1 billion. Trading houses have been opened in the capital cities of Tashkent and Ashgabat, and joint work is underway to create the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone.

Cooperation between leading enterprises of the two countries in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture, and transport is intensifying, and interregional contacts are expanding. This year, regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council were successfully held.

Joint events are held within the framework of the cultural and humanitarian program, including Culture Days, tours of creative groups and others.

An exchange of views also took place on important aspects of regional cooperation in Central Asia. The meeting schedule for 2024 was reviewed.
