The press service of the Azerbaijani President said that an official welcoming ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who is paying an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, has been held.

The guard of honor was arranged in honor of the distinguished guest in a square decorated with state flags of the two states. President Ilham Aliyev met President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

After the official welcoming ceremony, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov had a face-to-face meeting.

The sides expressed their satisfaction with the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in different areas.

It was noted about the importance of the official visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Azerbaijan from the standpoint of a further strengthening of cooperation and the confidence in further expansion of ties between the two countries.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

After the face-to-face meeting, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov held a meeting in an expanded format with the participation of delegations.
