Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The head of Uzbekistan expressed deep condolences and words of support to the president and people of Kazakhstan in connection with the loss of lives due to devastating floods in their country.

He emphasized that such natural disasters are a consequence of negative climate changes, which are becoming increasingly noticeable in our region.

An agreement was reached to continue close practical cooperation in combating these challenges.

During the conversation, the Kazakh leader expressed gratitude to the President and the people of Uzbekistan for the humanitarian assistance provided to flood victims in Kazakhstan.

Uzbekistan sent 15 trucks loaded with humanitarian goods to Kazakhstan, including food, men’s, women’s and children’s outerwear, blankets, pillows, hygiene products, tents with special equipment, as well as sets of rubber boats.

The conversation also touched upon issues of strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the implementation of agreements already reached, as well as discussion of current regional and international topics of the day.

The schedule of upcoming events at the highest level was also considered.
