Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Minister Sherzod Shermatov and President of Huawei ME&CA, Mr. Yi Xiang, to discuss further cooperation on the implementation of digital technologies in various sectors of the economy and social spheres, modernization of ICT infrastructure, digitalization of industries, and also on conducting educational programs to support digital youth and improve the skills of specialists.

During the meeting, Huawei representatives discussed the work accomplished in the Republic of Uzbekistan in collaboration with local telecom operators and ecosystem partners as part of the implementation of the “Digital Uzbekistan 2030” development strategy. Sides discussed plans on company’s further activities in the field of implementation ICT technologies to ensure ubiquitous connectivity, cooperation in expanding the capabilities of the existing data-center for digital government and the implementation of the next phase of data-center construction, expansion of the operation of Marketing and Solution Sharing Center on the basis of Huawei office in Uzbekistan, as well as acceleration digital transformation of the industries in the country. 

At the meeting special attention was paid to the improvement of ICT skills of the sector specialists and holding of educational projects for young talents on the basis of existing ICT Academies and Seeds for the Future initiative, as well as the introduction of digital technologies in local universities. 

“Huawei has been operating for 25 years in Uzbekistan, continuously striving to benefit and contribute to the digital development of the country, cultivating local talent, increasing the share of the digital economy in GDP, increasing export potential of the country, and brining innovations to expand connectivity in the Republic,” – the President of Huawei ME&CA Mr. Yi Xiang shared.

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov underlined the long-term cooperation with Huawei in the sphere of ICT infrastructure improvement and expressed gratitude for the joint efforts to nurture digital youth, welcoming the company's choice of Uzbekistan as the next country to host the large-scale educational program Seeds for the Future 2024 for students from Middle East countries East and Central Asia, and also called for further fruitful work on the implementation and development of ICT to increase export potential and accelerate the digital transformation of Uzbekistan.

Huawei has been operating in Uzbekistan for 25 years, implementing nationally important projects in the ICT sector, sharing experience in digital development with delegations from Uzbekistan at major global events, such as the Mobile World Congress, as well as organizing local forums and trainings, participating in local events, such as ICTWEEK UZBEKISTAN.
