President Congratulates Schoolchildren and Teachers in Uzbekistan on Knowledge Day
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his congratulations on the occasion of Knowledge Day, celebrated in schools across the country on 2 September. The text of his address was read out in all educational institutions of the republic.
The head of state addressed first graders, their parents, all schoolchildren, teachers, and mentors, wishing them success and new achievements. This year, more than 720,000 children started school for the first time, the president noted.
“Today it is especially gratifying to extend my best wishes to our sons and daughters who are stepping into school for the very first time under the sound of the first bell, as well as to their parents,” Mirziyoyev said.
The president emphasized that in recent years schools in Uzbekistan have been significantly transformed and have become a symbol of the renewed state. “The brighter and more comfortable a school is, the richer and more enlightened society will become,” he stated.
According to him, the development of the education system, the construction of new schools, the strengthening of their material and technical base, and the transformation of schooling into a nationwide movement can be considered among the main achievements of modern Uzbekistan.
Mirziyoyev highlighted the successes of schoolchildren in studies, sports, and public life, as well as their enrollment in leading universities in the country and abroad. “All this once again demonstrates the growing role of schools, teachers, and mentors in our lives,” he added.
The head of state called on students to strive for high goals, cherish knowledge, and respect the work of teachers. “School is a miracle, and every book and every lesson taught by a teacher is a priceless treasure,” the president said.
He wished children and educators health, well-being, and expressed confidence that the new academic year would be happy and blessed for all.
