Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbek delegation participating in the Paralympic Games in Paris set a new record on 6 September by increasing their total gold medals to 10.
On 7 September, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated athletes Nurkhon Kurbanova and Tolibboy Yuldashev, whose victories led to this historic achievement, during a phone call.
“I’ve been closely following your progress. I remember your words when we started building the Olympic Village: ‘I will return from the Paralympics with gold.’ This speaks to your determination and perseverance. You not only fulfilled your promise, but you exceeded it,” the head of state said, congratulating Nurkhon Kurbanova, who set and then broke her own world record.
“A few days ago, you won a bronze medal in shot put. Achieving two remarkable results in two different sports is a true feat. These accomplishments are the result of your hard work, relentless training, and exceptional skill,” President Mirziyoyev remarked while addressing Tolibboy Yuldashev.
The Paralympians expressed their heartfelt gratitude, noting that these successes were made possible due to the President’s continuous support and attention to the Paralympic movement, and they extended their thanks on behalf of themselves, their coaches, and their families.
