President: cars should become a luxury item

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Traffic jam problems in Tashkent are becoming significant. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzaev.

On some streets on weekdays the average level of traffic jams is 7-9 points, sometimes reaching 10 points, while in some areas there is twice as much congestion.

As a result, the rush hour time required to reach your destination doubles.

Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov and the Ministry of Transport and the Tashkent khokimiyat were instructed to develop proposals to solve the problem of traffic jams and make a presentation to the president.

All leaders responsible for urban planning and traffic are required to adopt the slogan “The City is for Pedestrians” as their guiding principle. At the same time, public transport should be given a comprehensive advantage, and cars should become a luxury item, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.
