Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 16 to 18 July, all state-run preschool educational institutions in the Khojayli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan will temporarily suspend operations.

The decision was signed by the district hokim (governor) in response to forecasts of extreme heat, according to a statement from the district administration’s press service.

The measure aims to ensure the safety and health of children amid unfavorable weather conditions.

According to UzHydromet’s forecast, air temperatures in the northern and southern regions, as well as in desert areas of Uzbekistan, are expected to exceed +40°C on July 17. Between July 18 and 20, the heatwave will affect most of the country, with temperatures reaching +40 to +43°C, and in some southern and desert areas, peaking at +44 to +45°C.
