Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 January, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, received the Chairperson of the Competitiveness Council, Deputy Minister of Government Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah Nasser Lut.

Issues of further development of multifaceted ties between Uzbekistan and the UAE, including in the trade, economic, social, cultural and humanitarian spheres, were considered.

As you know, significant progress has been achieved in all areas of cooperation between our countries in recent years. In particular, the volume of mutual trade in 2022 increased 2.1 times (US$518.6 million), and in 2023 increased by 21% compared to 2022 (US$625.9 million), the number of enterprises with the participation of the UAE reached 300.

During the conversation, the need to improve trade indicators by further intensifying the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in this direction was emphasized.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to working with international ratings and indices, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, creating broad opportunities for women and ensuring gender equality, developing human capital, as well as implementing joint projects in the field of digital technologies.

Also, in connection with the announcement of this year in Uzbekistan as the Year of Support for Youth and Business, ways to further expand cooperation in such areas as work with youth, education, employment, ensuring youth participation in events held in a number of advanced modern areas, in a word, ensuring comprehensive development youth.
