Inflation slows down in Uzbekistan in 1H - report

Consumer prices index in Uzbekistan slowed down from 3.5% in the first half of 2006 to 2.7% in the same period of 2007, a publication of Economy Ministry and State Statistic Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The report, published in central mass media outlets, said aggregate capital of commercial banks of Uzbekistan grew by 17.2% year-on-year in the reporting period.

The deposits of population at the Uzbek banks rose by 37.2% and total credit investments of banks to real sector of the country grew by 5.4%, the report said.
