Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the first half of 2024, passenger traffic at Samarkand International Airport increased by an impressive 191.6% compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019. This growth is the second highest among airports with an annual passenger flow of 1 to 10 million, according to the press service of AIR MARAKANDA LLC.

At the six-month mark, Samarkand International Airport holds the second position in ACI Europe’s ranking for passenger traffic growth. The airport has shown consistent growth for 22 consecutive months since October 2022.

In July 2024, passenger traffic reached 117,000, marking a 51% increase compared to July 2023. Over the first six months of 2024, the airport saw a record 647,000 passengers, up 47% from the same period in 2023.

Currently, Air Marakanda, which manages the new terminal at Samarkand International Airport, collaborates with 21 airlines. Flights are operated to 18 destinations, including 17 international and 1 domestic.
