Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan plans to produce alternative thermal energy from medical waste.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution "On measures to implement the investment project ‘Production of alternative thermal energy from medical waste.’"

According to the resolution, Sayar LLC established a foreign enterprise, Sayar Green, in the form of a limited liability company.

As part of the project, an Investment Agreement was signed between the investor Sayar LLC, the project company Sayar Green, and the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade.

Starting from 1 August 2024, medical waste generated in medical institutions of all types will be transferred to Sayar Green for the production of alternative thermal energy.

The produced thermal energy will be purchased by medical institutions at approved rates, and there will also be an option to supply thermal energy to other entities according to established regulations.

Failure to transfer medical waste generated in medical institutions of all types in the regions of project implementation to the project company will be considered a violation of sanitary and environmental norms and standards at all stages of waste management—from collection to disposal and recycling.
