Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A video conference meeting was held at the International Institute of Central Asia (MICA) with the executive director of the Geopolitical Cartographer research institute, Richan de Silva.
At the beginning of the conversation, the interlocutor was familiarized with the activities of MICA and the main directions of the Institute, as well as the features of interaction in the region within the framework of the “Central Asia+” format.
In turn, Richan de Silva spoke about the activities of the Geopolitical Cartographer Institute, which, as a non-profit think tank in Sri Lanka, conducts in-depth research analysis and studies the changing geopolitical and geo-economic developments in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The Institute was founded by the current President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, and is located in Colombo.
He emphasized that the main directions of his activities also include establishing partnerships with similar research institutes abroad.
Richan de Silva praised the growing role of the Central Asian region, which is currently of particular interest to Sri Lanka. In this regard, he noted that Sri Lanka intends to hold a forum on the topic: “The importance of the Central Asian region and its potential for bilateral relations of Sri Lanka,” in which experts from leading analytical structures of Central Asian countries are planned to participate.
According to Richan de Silva, MICA and the Geopolitical Cartographer have similar goals and objectives that correspond to the interests of their regions and the two countries. In this regard, he proposed to continue negotiations to determine specific areas of cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Sri Lanka.
