Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 May 2024, Brice Roquefeil, head of the Department of Continental Europe of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France and Aurelia Bouchez, Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan, visited the Research Center for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage and Objects of Art at the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan. 

The visit of Brice Roquefeil and Aurelia Bouchez to the Research Center for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage and Objects emphasized the importance of cultural heritage and its restoration as an important factor in strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and France. Both countries have a rich cultural heritage, and preserving and restoring it is an important common goal.

The Center’s development plans include the creation of modern spaces such as storage, lecture theatres, co-working spaces, a library and a café, making it not only a place for the restoration and preservation of valuable artefacts, but also a center for cultural life and education.

“Cultural heritage is a very important link, a common point between Uzbekistan and France, each country has a rich heritage. Of course, it is important to take care of its preservation, restoration and creating maximum visibility of these processes for the population. We develop cooperation at the highest level, facilitating the exchange of experience. There are many plans for the further development of the Center, the French side seeks to make its contribution and give development in part. We look forward to the completion of the restoration of the French Cultural Center and the Restoration Center, which will greatly benefit the country,” said Aurelia Bouchez, Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan.

Representatives of France expressed their readiness to contribute to the development of the Center, and also expressed hope for the successful completion of the restoration of the French Cultural Center and Research Center. Plans for exhibitions and special events were highlighted, as well as the start of restoration laboratories.

The opening of the Research Center is planned for 2025, and its implementation represents an important step in the development of cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and France.
