Uzbekistan becomes the largest seller of gold in February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan became the largest seller of gold in February 2024, according to the World Gold Council.

There were only two major sellers during the month, according to the council. The Central Bank of Uzbekistan reduced its gold holdings by 12 tons during the month, and the Central Bank of Jordan by 4 tons.

In February, central banks bought 19 tons of gold, down 58% from the previous month. The largest buyers were the central banks of China (12 tons), Kazakhstan (6 tons), India (6 tons) and Turkey (4 tons).

According to the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan, in February 2024, Uzbekistan exported gold worth almost US$1.32 billion.
