Samarkand International Airport switched to spring-summer flight schedule

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- For the autumn-winter period (AWP) 2023-24, Air Marakanda served more than 491 thousand passengers (+55% compared to the same period of last year), and since the beginning of this year, 294 thousand passengers have been served (+39% compared to the same period of last year).

In the AWP, carriers such as Red Wings, SunExpress, Humo Air, Ural Airlines, Qazaq Air and Centrum Air began operating flights from Samarkand Airport for the first time, opening direct flights to Kazan, Izmir, Tashkent, Yekaterinburg, Turkestan and Jeddah, respectively. Also during this period, the new base airline Air Samarkand began a flight program to Istanbul.

Low-cost carrier Pobeda increased the frequency of flights to Moscow from 4 to 9 times a week. The national airline Uzbekistan Airways also increased the frequency of flights to Moscow from 4 to 5 times a week, and to St. Petersburg to 3 times. Additionally, an additional flight was introduced to St. Petersburg by the air carrier UTair, which operated flights up to 2 times a week. Qanot Sharq airline increased the frequency of flights to Jeddah from 2 to 4 times, and regional carrier Silk Avia increased the number of flights to Tashkent to 7 times a week.

As part of the spring-summer schedule (SSS), partner airlines will continue to open new flights and increase the frequency of flights on the most popular routes.

In the SSS, the Uzbek air carrier Qanot Sharq plans to resume flights to Tel Aviv once a week, and Uzbekistan Airways is opening a flight program on the route Tashkent - Tel Aviv - Samarkand once a week on Tuesdays.

In the spring-summer season, Ural Airlines will begin operating regular flights to Moscow 4 times a week.

The Kazakh low-cost airline FlyArystan is resuming its flight program in Almaty and will operate flights 2 times a week on Wednesdays and Fridays.

From 14 April, Asia’s largest airline by fleet size, China Southern Airlines, resumes flights from Samarkand to Urumqi (China) once a week.

In the new season, Pobeda Airlines will increase the number of flights to Moscow to 10 times a week; in addition, the following air carriers are planning to increase the frequency of flights in this direction: Aeroflot up to 9 times a week, Uzbekistan Airways - 6 times a week and the Russian airline Utair up to 5 times a week.

One of the largest Russian air carriers, S7 Airlines, will increase the frequency of flights from Samarkand to Novosibirsk and will operate flights 2 times a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The number of flights to St. Petersburg will also be increased: Utair airline from 2 to 3 times a week, and Uzbekistan Airways to 4.

Due to the increase in demand for flights from Samarkand to Istanbul, the main carrier of Turkey, Turkish Airlines, plans to increase the frequency of flights from 4 to 10 times a week in the spring-summer period, in turn, Uzbekistan Airways is also adding new frequencies and plans to operate flights to Istanbul 5 once a week.

Along with the expansion of the route network and the introduction of additional frequencies for a comfortable stay of passengers at Samarkand International Airport, Air Marakanda continues to create the necessary conditions and offer new services.
