Countries in Europe and Central Asia to cooperate effectively to ensure gender equality

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva took part in a video conference at an event dedicated to the launch of the online platform of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and Central Asia “Equal Future”.

It was attended by the Assistant Secretary General, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Ivana Živkovićas well as heads and specialists of UNDP divisions, representatives of scientific and expert circles.

It should be noted that the “Equal Future” platform was launched by the UNDP Istanbul Regional Center to provide information and methodological support in the field of gender equality to parliaments, government bodies and civil society institutions of 19 countries in Europe and Central Asia. The platform is an online knowledge center on women’s participation in public administration.

During the event, the Chairperson of the Senate, Chairperson of the Republican Commission on Improving the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family T. Narbaeva noted that the current meeting is extremely relevant for all countries, since gender policy is an important factor in the development of society and the state.

She also focused on the comprehensive measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to comprehensively support women, actively involve them in the socio-political and socio-economic spheres, as well as our country’s international initiatives to develop regional cooperation on gender equality.

The event participants emphasized that this online platform serves as an effective platform for organizing various discussions, trainings and joint events to address gender equality issues, exchange information and experience in the field of gender equality in Europe and Central Asia.
