The Uzbek-Chinese international conference to be held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 February, in Tashkent, the International Institute of Central Asia, together with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Uzbekistan, is holding an international conference “Uzbekistan and China: promoting mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.”

Partners in the forum are also the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISMI), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Chinese Academy of International Affairs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chinese Enterprises in Uzbekistan.

The forum will be attended by leading analytical centers of the two countries, representatives of ministries and departments, as well as heads of Chinese companies in Uzbekistan.

A discussion will take place of the results of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China on 23-25 January and his negotiations with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

The Joint Statement signed by the heads of state announced the establishment of an “all-weather, comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.” During the visit, 15 intergovernmental, interdepartmental and interregional agreements were concluded. Decisions were made to expand project financing by Chinese banks, open a representative office of the Export-Import Bank in Uzbekistan and create a new Investment platform with the Silk Road Fund. Agreements were reached to expand infrastructure development and industrial cooperation programs.

During the conference, it is planned to exchange views on issues of deepening strategic partnerships and further promoting industry and interregional cooperation.

In the speeches of representatives of the business community of Uzbekistan and leading Chinese companies in our country, special attention will be paid to the issues of the social effect of ongoing projects.

Conference participants will make proposals to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas and enhance its positive impact on the socio-economic development of the two countries.
