Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Banking Supervision Committee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan held 9 meetings in January 2024 and considered 30 issues, the regulator’s press service said in a statement.

In the area of registration and permission, 20 issues were considered, including questions on registration of changes in the charters of credit organizations (2), permission to own shares in the authorized capital of credit organizations (3), licensing of credit organizations (2), qualification of an auditor to grant the right to conduct inspections in banks (2), about members of the supervisory board and the management of commercial banks, as well as candidacies of employees for important positions (11 questions).

The issues of the financial condition of credit institutions (question 10), compliance by banks and payment organizations with the requirements of prudential standards of the Central Bank, as well as the results of research conducted in banks and microfinance organizations are considered.

The Committee on Banking Supervision fined one bank and payment organization for violating legislation and Central Bank regulations.

The central bank warned three banks and two pawnshops of penalties for non-compliance with regulations.

The Committee also sent instructions to the management of banks to eliminate the identified deficiencies, comply with prudential standards established by the Central Bank, as well as fulfill requirements aimed at improving financial condition.
